How did we get here?

Staking our Claim

36 months ago my bride and I set a plan in motion. An agreement was reached whereby we would set aside every spare nickel we could over the next 24 months and then use those nickels to buy as much land as we could pay cash for. 

About 18 months into that time frame one of our many drives into the boonies turned up gold. A few hours later, with some haggling and a handshake, we drove off with an agreement for our first 5 acres. The story doesn’t end there, I promise.

Our Heritage and Their Inheritance

Now, nearly a year and a half in we have made great progress and a ‘go live’ date draws closer than we ever dreamed. We are documenting this all for a couple of audiences. For those thinking about making the jump, welcome. For those shaking their heads and asking ‘why on earth’, welcome. But most importantly, this is for our children and their children to come.

We will cover the lives that led us to this decision and all the adventures we have along the way.  We will share some of the books, authors, blogs and magazines that helped shape our path.
